Kim Jong Un watched a drill that North Korea’s head held on Thursday, according to Pyongyang’s state media. The country fired its most recent anti-aircraft missile system.
The launch came as South Korea completed a significant annual joint military exercise with the United States, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA ).
Kim praised the anti-aircraft system, claiming that North Korea’s military had been “equipped with another significant military system with admirable combat performance,” according to KCNA.
It did not specify the location where the test was conducted.
After it began combined maneuvers involving US troops stationed in South Korea, which ended this Thursday, Seoul claimed last Monday that the North fired “multiple unidentified projectile weapons.”
An unidentified representative for the North’s defense ministry said in a distinct statement on Thursday that the military training was” no more than a practice of battle of aggression.”
In the Yellow Sea, Pyongyang tested corporate cruise missiles in later February, which it claimed demonstrated” attack features.”
Relations between Pyongyang and Seoul have been at one of their most negative items in years, with the North firing a number of nuclear weapons last year in violation of UN restrictions.
Since their 1950-1953 issue ended with an armistice rather than a peace treaty, the two Koreas still physically are at battle.
