An Israeli hostage who was released from Hamas’s grip after 491 days gave a terrifying account of his ordeal during a UN Security Council ( UNSC ) address.
Eli Sharabi described his experience in “hell” as” chained, starved, beaten, and insulted” in the Hamas prison.
” My name is Eli Sharabi. I am 53 years older. I’ve escaped devil. I’m now telling my tale again. My British-born family Leanne, my sons Noia and Yahel, live with me in Kibbutz Berry. It was a lovely neighborhood. We all had a passion for making the best possible life for our kids and the people around us. I left Tel Aviv for Beriere at the age of 16 and was looking for a quiet house away from the practical area. I discovered a supportive neighborhood where I knew I did raise my family. Some people asked why we were so close to Gaza, but Be’eri to me was heaven. Leanne was a charity in Bristol, United Kingdom. She was supposed to stay a few months, but she met me and we fell in love,” said Eli Sharabi at the UNSC.
We had two beautiful daughters, a puppy named Mocha, and we were married for 23 years. My god changed to hell on October 7. The alarms erupted. Has terrorists invaded, and I was taken from my home without ever seeing them once. I spent 491 time largely submerged in Hamas evil tunnels. shamed, tortured, and starved. He continued,” I was held captive in the darkness, isolated from the world by Hamas terrorists.”
The freed Israeli prisoner revealed that he had lost more than 30 kg, lived on food scraps, and had never received medical attention or compassion while he was still in prison.
Sharabi questioned the lack of charitable organizations and expressed his shock at the global group’s silence. When he returned to Israel in February, he learned tragically that his wife Lianne, girls Noiya and Yahel, had been killed by jihadists on October 7, 2023.

Eli Sharabi even revealed where he went while being held captive by Hamas and claimed that after being held captive for the first 52 weeks, he was taken into a hole 50 feet beneath where he was chained and had his body ripped off. He added that Hamas occasionally threw clean times in their path, which he claimed was the best product in the world.

Sharabi has constantly campaigned for the release of the victims, sharing his experience with world officials including US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, despite losing a lot of weight during his suffering.
