The Pentagon has taken down thousands of articles from its online platforms about important topics with traditional importance, such as the Holocaust, September 11, tumor attention, sexual abuse, and death prevention.
According to a database obtained by CNN, over 24, 000 content may be eliminated, many of which have already been deleted. More than 1, 000 defense department websites are affected by this initiative, which goes beyond removing images from the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service ( DVIDS ).
Pentagon Press Secretary John Ullyot expressed satisfaction with the swift compliance across departments after receiving a memo announcing the removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ) content.
However, a Wayback Machine assessment of deleted reports from the Internet Archive reveals that many of the articles have no relation to DEI initiatives, race theory, sex ideology, or identity-based efforts.
Holocaust-related reports no longer have the” La” in their URLs, which are notable removal. This includes articles about Holocaust Remembrance Week and Holocaust veteran Kitty Saks.
Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, expressed worry about the removal of Holocaust-related material while highlighting its significance in training and the fight against racism.
Articles about September 11 memory, cancer consciousness, sexual assault avoidance, and suicide prevention resources are more removed content. The clean also affects thousands of articles about historical figures, women’s contributions to the military, LGBTQ people, people of color, and other persons.

Significant unintended consequences have been brought on by the material removal procedure, which is mostly automated by DoD’s public website administrators. Defense officials acknowledge the need for a more rigorous assessment operation involving human error to evaluate deleted information for prospective promulgation.
Trump’s DEI onslaught
Trump directed federal agencies to terminate employees who work in diversity, equity, inclusion ( DEI ) programs within 60 days, a significant change in federal policy that came just days after signing an executive order on the first day of his second term in office. The law comes in response to an earlier decision that required company heads to send plans to reduce DEI offices and placed La staff on paid leave.
The US Office of Personnel Management’s memo stated the closing of DEI, DEIA ( including accessibility ), and environmental justice positions. Trump criticized La activities as discriminatory against white people during his campaign and has since taken more drastic measures to end liberal policies, including ending affirmative action in governmental contracts and opposing trans rights.
