In discussions over$ 400 million in federal funding that the management revoked earlier this month, Columbia University has agreed to cede.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Columbia has agreed to “ban faces,” grant 36 college police officers new authority to detain pupils, and appoint a senior vice provost with large authority to oversee the Center for Palestine Studies and the Middle East, South Asian and African Research. The university has agreed to make extra efforts to encourage more intellectual diversity at the generally extreme left school in addition to the nine demands that the university made of Trump before talks on restoring the$ 400 million in reductions had started.
In a letter released by the school on Friday, it stated that” we have worked hard to address the genuine concerns raised both from within and without our Columbia community, including by our authorities, with respect to the discrimination, intimidation, and racist acts our Jewish society has faced in the midst of October 7, 2023.”
The government involvement in Columbia’s scientific management is the Trump demand that has the most radical-left colleges quaking in their boots. Although Columbia refused to specify the changes in that manner, the university placed those intellectual departments in what is typically regarded as receivership. However, Columbia suggested that the word be used.  ,
Numerous Israeli professors are celebrating the 1200-person fatalities at the Center for Arab Studies on October 7. This has become a hotbed of antisemitism. A dean will now be in charge of it, who will implement a number of innovative regulations, including changing the definition of “antisemitism.” Immigrants will not be included in the new classification if they choose to celebrate violence against Israelis or Jews based on their sentiments toward Israel.

The bankruptcy section was perhaps the most unusual and contentious of the demands on the list. In order to guarantee the education offerings are extensive and sensible, Columbia will assign a vice provost to evaluate the department’s curriculum, nontenure faculty hiring, and leadership. However, the school did not refer to the agreement as a “receivership.”
The Chronicle of Higher Education reported that the English department was involved in a fight that pitted “feminists and multiculturalists against traditionalists” in 2002 when Columbia invoked a receivership. After three years, the department “picked up and carried on quite well” and the university placed a classics professor in its place.
Antisemitism and anti-Israeli bias have long been raised by Columbia’s Middle Eastern Studies department. The 2004 film” Columbia Unbecoming” brought attention to the maltreatment of Jewish students by predominantly Arab and Muslim professors who taught in the aforementioned department and continue to do so.
Columbia will develop programs for their headquarters in Tel Aviv in addition to the demands made by the administration, including a pledge to not endorse political positions on contentious issues.
One of the school’s most significant announcements is the school’s commitment to expand “intellectual diversity” at Columbia.
Additionally, the school will increase “intellectual diversity” among faculty members by appointing new faculty members in joint positions in the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies and the Economics, Political Science, and School for International and Public Affairs. These faculty members will strengthen the University’s commitment to excellence and fairness in Middle Eastern studies by creating a robust and intellectually diverse academic environment.

The ability to compel universities to repress dissent that disrupts classes or occupies campus structures has always existed. Antisemitism in schools that ignore or even encourage it has always been a part of the curriculum. There has always been the ability to bring down radical leftists who hide behind an arbitrary definition of “academic freedom.”
Trump has chosen to re-use that authority. Because radicals, radicals won’t accept this as lying. Columbia will host protests, and schools across the nation, which have already experienced a hysterical fever pitch from the media and Democrats, could also start to splutter into violence.  ,
Similar to Richard Nixon in the 1970s, this would work in Trump’s favor. Given the realities on the ground at universities, the cost would be high, but it might not be necessary.
