Han Duck-soo was reinstated as the acting president on Monday after being overturned by a South Korean judge.
Han’s prosecution was overturned by the judge’s eight justices in a 5 to 1 ballot. The prosecution action was completely rejected by two justices, according to Yonhap news agency.
After Yoon Suk Yeol’s arrest on December 3 and the federal assembly’s decision to impose martial law, which caused a significant political crises, he assumed the position of acting president. Han was furthermore later impeached by the council because of disagreements with opposition politicians.
Yoon’s situation is still pending before the constitutional court. South Korea will need to hold a presidential election if the court upholds his impeachment, and if it decides in his favour, he may be reinstated with entire national authority.
The nation is still rife with racial tensions as large foe gatherings either support or criticize Yoon, with demonstrations erupting in Seoul and various major locations. Yoon’s declaration of martial law was initially widely criticized, but his followers have since grown more popular.
