Officials in Alexandria, Virginia, confirmed that previous US attorney for the southeast area of Virginia, Jessica Aber, was found dead on Saturday night at a home. She was 43.
Officials from the Alexandria Police Department responded to a phone about an indifferent person at 9:18 am. When they arrived, they discovered Aber dead at the scene. Whether she owned the home at the time or who first contacted the police is still a mystery. The Virginia medical examiner’s office will determine the death’s produce.
According to the New York Post, authorities stated that” as a matter of process, an investigation is underway surrounding the situation of her death.” At this time, no more information have been provided.
Jessica Aber: Who is she?
Aber was born and raised in Virginia. She received her law degree from William & Mary Law School in 2006 and graduated from the University of Richmond in 2003. Before joining the Department of Justice, she began her legitimate job as a law clerk for then-magistrate judge M. Hannah Lauck. She after worked for McGuireWoods LLP.
In 2009, Aber, a well-known lawyer in the eastern area of Virginia, began practicing law in cases involving financial fraud, public problem, violent crime, and child abuse. Prior to becoming a US attorney, she afterwards held the position of deputy chief of the department’s legal division. Serving a city of roughly six million people, she oversaw a team of about 300 people spread out across Alexandria, Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News.
Former US Attorney Joe Biden nominated her in August 2021 to serve as the eastern city of Virginia’s lawyer, and the Senate unanimously confirmed her. Before resigning in January after the start of President Trump’s subsequent expression, she led the organization for almost three years.
Her contributions to the field were well known, including receiving the 2019 Department of Justice Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service, according to the department of justice libraries.
