When Elon Musk’s Department of Government Performance whiz kids aren’t looking for useless spending, they are actually working harder to improve how the government systems operate. A prime example is the IRS, where DOGE assistant Sam Corcas discovered a “modernization system that is already 30 years behind schedule and over budget.”

Moving “at the rate of government,” as Rudy Guiliani once said.  ,
Corcas, who was speaking to Fox News on Friday along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, described a computer program that was out of date in the 1970s as being authentic gallery items to a 30-something man like himself. He told Fox,” The IRS has some reputation infrastructure, and the problem is how to make that a contemporary program.”” The IRS has some legacy infrastructure,” he said. We also use many of those outdated devices despite the fact that almost every lender has done this.
He joined Levels, a health-tech business he co-founded in 2019, along with a previous SpaceX expert, and is probably knowledgeable about contemporary computer systems. He discovered that there are many IRS employees who “are wonderful” and would definitely prefer nothing more than a modified workplace. The issue is with the expensive specialists who maintain the outdated techniques. Bessent continued,” They’re like a boa constrictor, they’re like a python.” They have slowed themselves down because of our government’s staggering fees. They are being passed on to the taxpayers in America.

Is there anything wrong with Washington that doesn’t require a person’s metal grain dish?
It involves a path to hell paved with good intentions and money from other people if you want to know how we got below.
Although Bill Clinton was still sort of kind of in tune with Newt Gingrich’s 1994 Contract with America program, the IRS’s Tax Systems Modernization ( TSM) program dates back to the Reagan administration, I vaguely recall something-something-IRS-modernization from his first term.
By 1986, it was apparent that the IRS don’t rely solely on 1960s pc technology because I was still in high school and essentially also have grandkids. But they conducted a development study in 1986, and in 1989 received$ 8 billion to make things modern by 1996.
In an increasingly interconnected system world predominated by Windows 95 and Netscape Navigator, apparently, the IRS might have been brought up to circa 1990 standards — black Windows screens or the like, no net —  . However, they spent three times as much as their primary budget and were unable to accomplish even that.  ,

The IRS has carried out some nip-and-tuck advancements roughly 30 years after the initial date, but if Corcos and Bessent are accurate, the main legacy systems won’t be replaced until the consultants get their gold-plated metal grain dish removed.
Democrats are attempting to prevent that’s what DOGE is trying to do, and that’s what DOGE is trying to accomplish. We didn’t afford any more gold-plated experts, and the IRS can’t afford to spend another 30 years building IBM computers.  ,
Bill Maher claims California needs an Elon Musk, but there’s a capture, but it’s recommended.
