Left-leaning journalist Elie Mystal urged Democrats to repeal voter registration rules on MSNBC’s” Morning Joe,” because… I’m sure you can guess why.
According to Mystal,” we had outlaw all voting registration laws.” ” View, when Democrats take office, we try to protect voting rights, but we don’t create voting simpler.”

Mystal questioned the necessity of pre-registration despite acknowledging that some voting registration requirements are important. I’m all for voting registration requirements, then. We may disagree on what those needs may be, he said. However, I’m going to say that there should be a voting time restriction, you know. I may say 16 or 18, but you’re right, I’m not going to suggest eight.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were those on the remaining who actually believed that eight-year-olds should be able to cast ballots, but I won’t go into that.
He did, however, criticize the idea of pre-registration, calling it an random hurdle. Why must you pre-register, exactly? Why, exactly, and why is that? It wasn’t a thing at the time of its foundation in this nation. In 1787, there was no vote pre-registration, Mystal claimed. In 1821, there was no voting pre-registration. Generally speaking, voting registration just started to be used after the Civil War.
But, does Mystal suggest that we should go back to the days when only white man home users had the right to ballot?  ,
No undoubtedly. In reality, Mystal contends that attempts to evict specific groups, including newly liberated slaves, were to do so.  ,
” Why do you believe that to be true? All of a sudden, New York was of,” We need some subscription up in these, right” because a group of freed American slaves were migrating up north. he stated. ” Bunch of immigrants from Europe, primarily, um, Ireland and, and Italy were, were coming to New York. People said,” Oh, we need some enrollment in around.”

Technically speaking, voter registration dates back to the year 1800, when Massachusetts passed the initial voter registration rules. The inspectors of each city or farm were required to prepare lists of eligible votes, and in the towns these lists were posted and updated prior to each election, according to Time Magazine.
There was a real justification for such laws:” Some people thought that ancient restrictions on voting were unfair, but the growing community and expanding vote meant that it was no longer feasible for voting officials to simply acknowledge the voters by view.”
Liberals Are Not Content, and Joe Biden Is Again.
Although I didn’t say that current voter registration rules were used to alienate black voters in the past because we know that Democrats have a long record of denying black voters the right to vote, that doesn’t mean that modern voter registration laws are racist.
Mystal, of sure, argued that the United States is an exception when it requires pre-registration, and that involuntary voter registration is a necessity.  ,
He argued that if you’re eligible to vote, you should be immediately registered to vote, which is how it’s done elsewhere but in the United States. Anywhere else but us has automatic membership or some other form of forced membership to ensure that there is no connect between eligible voters and registered voters.
No entirely accurate, I believe. Automatic voting registration is not as prevalent as Mystal suggests. Using my study, Mongolia, Chile, Hungary, Israel, the Netherlands, and Argentina all have computerized voter registration.  ,

There may be a few more, but here’s the rub: according to what I can discover, countries that have computerized registration likewise have voter ID requirements to enable identity verification. These nations may have realized that you must demonstrate that voters are who they claim to be when you have voters quickly registered. But waited, Democrats claim that legislation requiring voter ID are racist. What does Mystal have to say about that, then? Are these nations racist because they allow voting Card?  ,
However, our ostensibly educated neighbors in the north of Canada don’t include automatic voter registration, but they do impose voter ID needs. I’d like to know what Mystal thinks about that.
Mystal’s main concern is not extending election rights, but rather helping Democrats win. Despite the fact that some states allow same-day subscription, he claims that Kamala Harris lost because of the laws that govern voter subscription. In the end, whenever the remaining drives for changes to election laws, it almost always results in reducing the amount of election fraud committed.
