According to a report from ARY News, the Balochistan government, led by deputy minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has decided to take strict actions against state employees who engage in anti-state activities.
The authorities announced that it would take action against those who engage in anti-state engagement and advertising at a high-level meet chaired by CM Bugti, which was attended by the IG Balochistan and the chief minister.
CM Bugti reportedly instructed all commissioners and city officers to immediately intervene against any state employees who are suspected of propagating anti-state propaganda or engaging in illegal behavior against the state. The government’s action appears to be a strong attempt to halt provincial advocacy and dissention, particularly among those who oppose the state’s policies. Additionally, Bugti confirmed that those responsible for these actions may be subject to strict security by being included in the Third Schedule for closer inspection.
Additionally, ARY News reported that CM Bugti directed all provincial head of educational establishments to ensure the province’s national flag was hoisted and the national anthem was recited frequently. The resignation of education leaders is a response to these orders, which indicates a more severe assault on any form of resistance in these areas.
The government’s wider plan to impose control over the region, including surveillance and possibly halting any opposition to its policies, is reflected in this renewed emphasis on stifling engagement in Balochistan.
This occurs as a result of the arrest of Baloch protesters and officials. In addition to bringing attention to the country’s marginalization, activists in the Balochistan area have generally carried out protests and campaigns.
In response, governments have carried out terrible crackdowns, frequently resulting in the incarceration of Baloch activists and leaders. International human rights organizations have been critical of these actions, raising concerns about the suppression of social expression and the stifling of tranquil advocacy for local rights.
