According to Fox News, a doctor from Canada has suggested that the country is concerned that more stringent border police measures in the US might lead to a substantial increase in illegal immigration and drug trafficking into the nation. On “60 Minutes Overtime,” Kelly Sundberg from Mount Royal University discussed the possibility of a “tsunami” of unlawful immigrants entering Canada from the United States. He thinks that the current U.S. administration’s fear of imprisonment and repatriation may be to blame for this surge.
Sundberg expressed concern that people entering Canada may actually take drugs and weapons over the boundary. He cited President Trump’s plans, including the potential relocation of” legal illegal creatures” to Guantánamo Bay, as a factor that might spur immigration to Canada. He even raised questions about the possible effects on fentanyl trafficking.
” I hope I’m wrong, but it seems that the illegal immigrants who are attempting to enter our country are going to be overwhelmed, and they could also be bringing weapons and drugs with them,” Sundberg said.
A Mexican gang member who claimed that more refugees are now attempting to become smuggled” through” the United States into Canada was a part of the “60 Minutes Time” section.
The gang member claimed that “most of them are Residents.” They fear being deported to their nations, they say. We used to see little, but three or four of the 30 persons we crossed do show up. Five of the 10 we cross then probably go up to Canada.
Recent studies have also raised questions about human trafficking at the Canadian border, with reported ads for services that allow illegal immigrants to enter the country through the northern border.
Trump has voiced his opposition to Canada’s border security and its ability to stop fentanyl from entering the country, which has resulted in trade restrictions, including tariffs on American steel and aluminum, with the risk of even more.
According to Fox News, the number of illegal border crossings in Trump’s first full month of office decreased by a record-setting low of 8, 326 arrests of illegal immigrants by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol ( CBP). This represented a 96 % decrease from the highest figures the Biden administration had recorded in December 2023, with 301, 981 fights at the southwestern border.
