If you have a head to enjoy computer protection, it’s fun. Even a regular cleverness and intelligence are enjoyable, at least when anything interesting happens. ( Over the years, I’ve seen a lot of highly classified information, and I’m telling you that the majority of it is superior to Ambien. )

Of course, the frenzied” Trump’s people are morons” effort this week was based on the “leak” of a Signal talk that saw several top administration officials and Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic join.
People who would like nothing more than to see something Donald Trump’s individuals did, not the least of whom is Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, but even Trump’s political rivals both inside and outside Congress, have been confounded by it.
Just to be honest, I’d include Goldberg, who was The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief when it was publishing “pee tape” and” Russia collusion” stories as one of those political opponents.
In any case, Goldberg’s history was full of wink-wink nods without making any mention of anything that was really classified. He may at best say that something could theoretically had been classified.
Numerous additional details have been released since this erupted. particularly:
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency ( CISA ) made a recommendation for Signal on December 18, 2024. Following telecoms breaches like the” Salt Typhoon” problems attributed to Chinese thieves, senior government officials and various high-risk people were encouraged to use end-to-end encrypted messaging programs as part of this advice. Signal is a particularly safe option for protecting vulnerable contacts across mobile and desktop platforms, according to the CISA.

This discussion wasn’t classified.
-
In fact, it wasn’t even vulnerable because they were discussing items that had already been said in public.
-
They made a clear recommendation to take it to a higher level when they reached a defined topic. They therefore understood what was and wasn’t vulnerable.

Greenberg was one of Waltz’s workers, not Mike Waltz, who answered the call.
I’ll then create a new name for intelligence and counterintelligence. When you reveal information in a route that you believe has been compromised, you fall into the” coral snare.” Birds were originally used in coal mines as air quality sensors. The coral performing provided reassurance that no one would be noticing that the heat was being fouled in ways that humans doesn’t. You then release the information and verify that it is recognizable. Then you are aware of how it got there if the data appears in an unexpected place.
Thus, we have a condition where a number of administration officials are sharing interesting but unidentified information with a well-known opposition of the Trump administration who, coincidentally, has also been very vocal about criticizing Pete Hegseth.

This definitely odors like a parakeet trap, in my opinion. You listen for the canaries to speak when some real, unidentified data is distributed on a network you suspect may have been compromised. Although it’s possible that it was just a snafu, it seems unlikely given that the people involved, aside from Goldberg, were all aware that some of their concerns may be broadcast on more reputable programs called the “high side.”
So I suppose it sounds like the canaries has sung. Watch out for whispers about a team move-over, likely with less access to sensitive contacts from Waltz.
