BNP director general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made a U-turn on Tuesday, voicing” major concerns” about rising attempts to downplay the significance of the 1971 Liberation War while reiterating the dangers of the base of Bangladesh’s freedom.
” Some individuals, organizations, and groups are attempting to remove 1971 from storage in an effort to make it appear as though it never happened.” My companions, those who previously participated in the murder, are now speaking louder than possibly,” Fakhrul said in Dhaka.
The declaration, which apparently was made with an attention on the national elections scheduled to take place in the year-end, appears to suggest a change in the party’s position. His cadres have taken active part in anti-Mujib demonstrations both domestically and abroad, including destroying his house at Dhanmondi 32 and removing his portrait from Darbar Hall of the President’s workplace.
Fakhrul claimed that those responsible for the large murders committed during the war of independence are nowadays speaking out in public and trying to alter history. Fakhrul emphasized the value of keeping the country’s history alive, noting that many younger generations are unaware of considerable historical occurrences.
Bangladeshi meet plan is also awaited by India.
According to Ahsan Tasnim, Bangladesh on Tuesday said it was awaiting a reply from New Delhi regarding its suggestion for a conference between Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok next year. If the intergovernmental meeting is held, said foreign minister Md Jashim Uddin, the strain was be squelched by the two countries.
