In a late-night social media post on Thursday, President Trump declared that he would attack the European Union and Canada if they joined forces to attack America, launching a new front in the trade conflict that is raging.
” If the European Union collaborates with Canada to cause economic damage to the United States, significant taxes, much larger than is currently planned, will be applied to both of them to protect the best friend that each of those two nations has ever had”! Trump wrote this. Trump’s statement presents a new issue for the EU. The US is by far Europe’s most significant buying lover, and the EU is scrambling to deal with the possibility of worse trading situations. However, thus far, the Trump presidency has shown little interest in striking a deal. One side cannot clap, according to Maros Sefcovic, the business commissioner for the EU, in the end.
