University confirms it is investigating. Pro-life organization says young man is candidate for student government
A young man identified by a pro-life organization as a candidate for student government was caught on video wrecking a pro-life display recently at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
A university spokesperson confirmed Friday that it is investigating the incident.
“UNC Asheville is investigating the recent incident at Highsmith Student Union,” Brian Hart told The College Fix in an email. “Student safety is a top priority. UNC Asheville takes all allegations of student conduct violations seriously and addresses them in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Student Code of Responsibility.”
Hart said the university cannot “disclose details regarding student conduct matters” because of privacy laws, but he did confirm that Adrian Miguelez, whom Students for Life of America identified as the young man in the video, is “a student enrolled at UNC Asheville.”
The pro-life organization identified Miguelez as a candidate for “a sophomore senator seat in UNC Asheville’s student government” in a blog post on its website.
A photo of Miguelez on the student government webpage appears to match the image of the young man in the video. According to his candidate profile, he opposes “assaults on diversity and cultural programs” and is “passionate about true justice.”
The short video, posted by Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins on X, shows the male student telling the pro-life advocates, “I f—ing hate you, I f—ing hate you.”
Leaning on the pro-life display table, the young man accuses the pro-life advocates of supporting “fascism” and “putting women down.” Then, he grabs the tablecloth and pulls it, sending the display materials flying through the air as he walks away.

SFLA Carolinas Regional Coordinator Alicia Foreman said the pro-life advocates’ interaction with the young man began prior to the video.
“He started angrily calling us names from the beginning, and I tried to deescalate him,” Foreman stated on the blog. “He stated he supports abortion through all nine months for any reason as well.
“I asked him to leave because he was getting aggressive, and he did leave,” Foreman said. “He left but came back not even five minutes later, even angrier. He was cussing at us and calling us ‘fascists’ and ‘misogynists.’”
In an interview Wednesday on Fox News, Hawkins said pro-life students frequently encounter hostility on college campuses.
“What this is indicative of is what we see all the time on college campuses,” Hawkins said. “Violence is the Left’s go-to.”
