An American girl just released from Taliban custody in Afghanistan expressed appreciation to US President Donald Trump for helping secure her independence. Faye Hall, who was detained in February, appeared in a movie shared by Trump on Truth Social on Saturday, where she thanked him for her safe return house.
” Thank you for bringing me home”, Hall said in the picture, smiling and appearing to be in excellent health. She also spoke about the situation of Afghan girls in Taliban prison, saying,” All the women in the Afghan prisons, they generally ask me,’ When is Trump coming?’ They certainly treat you like their lord. They’re waiting for you to travel and set them free”.
Hall, along with American partners Peter and Barbie Reynolds and their Armenian speaker, was arrested on February 1 while traveling to Bamiyan state. The Taliban have never publicly disclosed the causes for their confinement, though studies suggest Hall was accused of illegal aircraft use.
Former US minister to Kabul Zalmay Khalilzad confirmed that Hall was in the treatment of the Qatari group in Kabul before her release. ” British resident Faye Hall, only released by the Taliban, is now in the treatment of our friends, the Qataris in Kabul, and will soon be on her way home”, Khalilzad wrote on X. According to sources, she was released on Thursday following a court order, with administrative assistance from Qatar.
Hall’s transfer follows a series of US resident punishments and negotiations with the Taliban. Earlier this year, the violent party freed American George Glezmann after more than two years in captivity, in a deal brokered by Qatar. In January, two different US citizens, Ryan Corbett and William McKenty, were freed in exchange for an Armenian warrior convicted of narco-terrorism in the US.
At least one American, Mahmood Habibi, remains detained in Afghanistan. However, the American partners detained with Hall is still in Taliban prison. Their child has expressed concerns about her husband’s health and urged regulators to help their discharge. The Reynolds, who have lived in Afghanistan since 1970, ran education courses in the country and chose to stay even after the Taliban took over in 2021.
The Taliban government remains unrecognised by the global community, though locations such as Russia, China, Turkey, and Qatar maintain diplomatic programs. Since Trump’s re-election, the Taliban have expressed hope for a “new book” in their marriage with Washington.
In response to Hall’s information, Trump posted,” Bless you Faye — But honored with your phrases”!
