A mother and her two younger girls were killed in Brooklyn on Saturday when a vehicle with a suspended licensing crashed into an Airbnb before ploughing into the home. The three were walking household from temple when the tragedy struck.
The person’s four-year-old child was also struck and remains in critical situation, fighting for his life, officials confirmed. Nevertheless, nine people were injured in the destructive accident.
The tragedy unfolded only after 1 am on Ocean Parkway, near Quentin Road, in the Orthodox Jewish suburb of Gravesend. Authorities said a Toyota Camry Uber and an Audi collided, sending the Audi hurtling into a intersection, where it struck the home.
” The knock I heard, it was like an quake”, a witness told the New York Post. ” It went on for a nice 30 hours. It felt like the universe stopped for that next”.
The Audi, driven by 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi, mortally hit the 35-year-old mom and her sons, aged eight and six, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
” This was a brutal horror caused by people who shouldn’t have been on the road”, Tisch stated at a press event at the scene.
The woman’s husband, who was at house with their child at the time, was afterwards informed of the terrible damage.
” My cousin had to go to the spouse and tell him that his wife and two children passed apart”, a local resident said.
Shocking photos from the fallout showed children’s boots scattered on the road, while doctors sorely worked on the injured. A second officer was seen on his legs, obviously distraught and in tears.
Three people inside the Uber, an child and two children, were also taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Both Yarimi and the 62-year-old Uber drivers were transported to Coney Island Hospital, where they were expected to have tests for drink-driving.
Thus far, no claims have been filed against Yarimi.
New York city president Eric Adams described the fall as a drama of” Shakespeare measurements”.
” A family going for a simple stroll on a sunny day was struck and killed”, he said at an unrelated function. ” I don’t think the problems of the home”.
