‘ Catch and Revoke ‘ system uses AI to look for proof of ‘ reported criminal sentiments’ on social media
President Donald Trump’s administration has revoked more than 300 student permits in the last three months following the launch of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s” Catch and Revoke” system.
” We do it every day”, Rubio said at a Thursday press event in Guyana, Axios reported. ” Every day I find one of these maniacs, I take away their visa”.
It “might be more than 300 at this point”, he said.  , A senior Justice Department official had recently confirmed this amount with Forbes.
Additionally, an official told the outlet that” The Trump administration is discussing plans to try to block specific colleges from having any international students if it decides to many are’ pro-Hamas.'”
An official likewise told Politico that the” Catch and Revoke” system uses AI to examine the social media accounts of student card holders. Authorities are looking for evidence of “alleged criminal sentiments expressed after Hamas ‘ Oct. 7, 2023, assault on Israel”, the channel reported.
According to the standard, there were “literally zero card expulsions during the Biden presidency … which suggests a blind eye approach toward law police”.
This year, U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained a Ph. D. student at the University of Alabama and another at Tufts University in Massachusetts after revoking their visa.
ICE officials approached Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, a Greek member, on the street. Security camera footage shows the officials arresting her and putting her in an unknown vehicle, The Guardian reported.
” Government and Ice studies found Ozturk engaged in activities in support of Hamas, a foreign terrorist firm that relishes the shooting of Americans”, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.
” A card is a pleasure, not a straight. Honoring and supporting extremists who kill American is grounds for card issuance to be terminated. This is logical surveillance”, the spokesperson said.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, but, condemned” the violence of a young Muslim hijab-wearing professor by concealed federal officials in large daylight”, in a statement Wednesday.
” This unsettling act of suppression is a direct assault on free speech and intellectual freedom”, the advocacy group stated.
ICE has also detained Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian Columbia University graduate student, causing anger from free speech parties and Democrat politicians, The College Fix previously reported.
Likewise, authorities detained Palestinian protesters Badar Suri at Georgetown University and Yunseo Chung at Columbia University. But, a federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from deporting both individuals.
However, scientific organizations in the U. S. filed a complaint Tuesday against the Trump presidency to prevent the repatriation of foreign students.
