A fashion entrepreneur has filed a lawsuit against American Airlines after allegedly enduring an hour-long incident of sexual misconduct by a fellow traveler during a trip from New York City to Milan.
Neel Elsherif, CEO of many companies, including the pleasure vegan set brand Mela, claims that a man seated next to her engaged in inappropriate behavior while airline staff failed to act.
According to the complaint filed in Brooklyn federal judge, the incident occurred on May 27 on a prime business flight from JFK Airport. Elsherif alleges that the unidentified person, referred to in lawful documents as John Doe, consumed many glasses of champagne before engaging in unacceptable behavior, rubbing his groin over his pants and after masturbating for about 60 minutes.
Elsherif, 37, said in the legal registration that she was terrified to rest, fearing possible abuse. ” She froze in her chair and began to panic, she felt really miserable and helpless”, the complaint says.
Despite paying$ 3, 000 for her chair, she claims no staff members patrolled the prime market room during the event. When she reported the wrongdoing to a flight attendant, she was reportedly met with indifference and was told,” People really do things like that”. The assistant further suggested that her only choice was to proceed to the manager area, the lawsuit says.
Elsherif contends that the flight crew did not report the affair, nor did they handle John Doe regarding his reported activities. She likewise claims the reply reinforced dangerous stereotypes about girls tolerating wrongdoing.
Furthermore, the lawsuit accuses the flight of neglect, discrimination, and intentional infliction of emotional stress. Elsherif alleges that her fears were dismissed because she is an Egyptian lady.
