Greenland’s perfect minister strongly rejected US President Donald Trump’s subsequent declare that America will take control of the Arctic area, asserting that the self-governing Danish place decides its own potential.
” President Trump says that the United States ‘ may find Greenland.’ Let me be obvious: The United States will not get it. We do not pertain to anyone else. We decide our own upcoming”, Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen wrote in a Twitter post on Sunday.
His remarks came in response to Trump’s latest notes in an NBC News meeting, where the US senator suggested that military force was not off the table in his push to annex Greenland.
” I think there’s a good chance that we could do it without military army”, Trump said in the discussion on Saturday. ” This is world peace, this is international security”. But, he added,” I don’t get everything off the table”.
Greenland, an area rich in natural resources, is a carefully important place in the Arctic and remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Trump has consistently argued that acquiring Greenland is essential for US regional security, a place that has sparked anger among Greenlandic and Norwegian leaders.
Denmark, a Nato supporter of the United States, has also rejected Trump’s ideas. Greenlandic residents and politicians have expressed strong criticism, viewing any attempt to claim the area as an assault on their autonomy.
Trump also raised eyebrows when he was asked about how his position on Greenland may be perceived by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has faced international condemnation for invading Ukraine and annexing parts of its territory. The US president responded frankly,” I don’t treatment”.
Greenland’s officials continue to assert their freedom, making it clear that any discussion of the region’s potential will be decided by its own people—not foreign power.
