Donald Trump, the president‘s nominee, said he is” never joking” and that” there are methods” to doing so, giving his strongest evidence to date that he would consider running for a second term.
Trump made the announcement in a telephone contact with NBC News on Sunday that it was possible to secure some support for a potentially unconstitutional third term in the White House, while clarifying that it is still too early to make a decision and that he is focused on the work of his next administration.
The president said,” A lot of people want me to do it.” ” But, I mean, I generally tell them that we have a long way to get, you know, it’s really early in the management.”
Trump continued,” I’m focused on the present.”
Trump next went so far as to say that there are “methods” to get a second term that do not violate the Constitution, which forbids president from serving more than two words. He claimed that one of these would be if Vice President JD Vance won the election in 2028, leaving Trump with the administration.
Trump did not include any additional constitutional options.
Steve Bannon, one of Trump’s former aides, is backing a speculative next term. Additionally, there is some opposition in Congress to lengthen the two-term control. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) proposed a constitutional amendment that would allow the election of a leader for as many as three words in later January.
However, changing the Constitution would be very difficult and may call for either a two-thirds of the Congress’s voting or two-thirds of the state ‘ consent to convene a constitutional agreement to make changes. The state would then need to ratify any changes.
Trump responded to reporters ‘ questions for clarification on his earlier remarks on Sunday night. The president quickly delved into “rigged” 2020 election says, noting that any mention of a third term may actually be a fourth word, saying he is” never looking at” staying in the White House past Jan. 20, 2029, when a new leader did take office.
” I’m not looking at that, but I’ll show you, I’ve had more people ask me to serve a second term, which is in some ways a third term because the previous election, the 2020 election, was completely rigged, so it’s really kind of a third name.” Trump said,” I just don’t want the credit for the second because Biden was so bad, he did such a bad job, and I think that’s one of the reasons that I’m popular, if you want to know the truth,” and he said,” I don’t want the credit for the second because.”

When asked once more about the constitutionality of a third term for him, Trump responded that he didn’t want to talk about it, and that many people have urged him to run once more.
” I don’t even want to discuss it.” I’m just telling you that I have heard more people say,” Please run again.” We still have a long way to go before we even consider that, but I’ve had a lot of people,” he said.
