This week, Katherine Maher, the CEO of National Public Radio ( NPR ), testified before Congress– and it was a disaster. Among other things, she claimed she’s never seen any illustration of political bias at NPR during her time it.

I’ll just let that simmer for a minute, because her statement was so absurd that Bill Maher, no response, couldn’t even deny the truth on the latest episode of his HBO present” Real Time with Bill Maher”.
In reality, he didn’t hold back at all. He called out NPR’s” mad left-wing” discrimination and questioned whether tax dollars may continue to fund public commentators in 2025.
Maher began by addressing the evidence of NPR and PBS faces before Congress, where they faced accusations of democratic discrimination. ” If the government continue to send tax dollars to people broadcasters”? Maher asked. He highlighted that liberal lawmakers have long sought to minimize money to these institutions, a force he believes may eventually succeed under the new Trump presidency.
Maher therefore turned his attention to NPR’s management, particularly referencing Katherine Maher, who served as NPR’s CEO until 2021. ” I mean, I even read my nickname, Katherine Maher, was head of NPR. And, you know, she said, we’re completely honest. Give me a tear, lady”, he said, dismissing her say as ridiculous. ” I mean, they’re mad way quit”.
So, why did Katherine Maher say such a thing? Also, as we formerly pointed out, she is a dramatic anti-Trump left-winger. She’s called Trump a “fascist” and a “deranged discriminatory sociopath”, said that America is “addicted to light supremacy”, and has publicly chastised using the word “boy and girl” because it “erases the speech of non-binary people”.

That puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?
Maher went on to show his broader worries about federal funding for public internet. ” I think we’re past the age, really, where the government … why do we need to subsidize”? Maher questioned. He pointed out that the media landscape had changed drastically, with deepening social fragmentation. ” We’re but divided. These shops became common at a time when Republicans and Democrats didn’t love each other and weren’t at each other’s necks and didn’t consider each other was an existential risk”, Maher observed.

Maher’s notes were rooted in his belief that common commentators, such as NPR and PBS, no longer provide the work they once did. In the past, he suggested, these shops may have provided a needed neutral place. Yet, given the extreme divisions that define today’s social atmosphere, Maher argued, for organizations have outlived their usefulness. ” In that planet, you can’t include areas like this, I think, again. They have to become private”, he stated, calling for common broadcasters to work independently of government money.

Let’s be honest, Bill Maher has a place. We’re much past the time when NPR or PBS may claim to be honest. The reality is, prevalent fragmentation has infected every part of our society—even the judiciary, where left-wing judges then routinely disregard the Constitution to issue clearly political rulings. It’s high time we grip in judicial engagement, and we definitely shouldn’t be funding spread systems that operate with obvious political partiality on the taxpayers ‘ dime.
