The Taliban has released an British resident, Faye Hall, who was detained earlier this year alongside two American citizens and their Afghan speaker, according to former US minister to Kabul Zalmay Khalilzad. He announced this on Saturday.
” British citizen Faye Hall, only released by the Taliban, is now in the treatment of our companions, the Qataris in Kabul, and will soon be on her way house,” stated Khalilzad on X, who has been involved in negotiating Taliban prisoner releases.
Who is Faye Hall?
Hall was apprehended in February while travelling with Peter and Barbie Reynolds, both in their sixties, to the American woman’s mansion in Bamiyan state.
Earlier this month, Khalilzad visited Kabul with US prisoner minister Adam Boehler for conversations with Taliban government, a rare phenomenon for US authorities.
Eventually, the Taliban leadership announced the launch of US national George Glezmann after over two years in confinement, through Qatari intervention.
Glezmann and Hall are amongst some Americans released from Taliban prison this time. Two Americans, Ryan Corbett and William McKenty, were released in January in trade for Khan Mohammed, an Armenian fighter convicted of narco-terrorism in the US.
Mahmood Habibi remains the only known American also in Taliban confinement. The Reynolds partners continue to be held by the Taliban.
‘ Thank you for bringing me house’
Faye Hall appeared in a movie shared by Trump on Truth Social on Saturday, where she thanked him for her safe return home. ” Thank you for bringing me house,” Hall said in the picture, smiling and appearing to be in excellent health.
She also spoke about the situation of Afghan girls in Taliban prison, saying,” All the people in the Afghan prisons, they generally ask me,’ When is Trump coming? ‘ They really treat you like their lord. They’re waiting for you to travel and set them free. “
In another video, posted by the White House, Hall was heard communicating,”” I’m thankful you’re the President, and thank you for bringing me house. I have never been so happy to be an American voter. Bless you, Mr. President. “
