A traditional 200-year-old , decoration of President George Washington stolen , from a backup system last year was just recovered, according to the Englewood Police Department.
The first 1800s decoration was reported stolen in January 2024 from a storage facility in the 3300 wall of Santa Fe Drive.
It remained missing until authorities received an anonymous , Crime Stoppers , idea earlier this month that led them to a person who obtained the mural while staying at a Denver hotel,  , Englewood authorities said Monday.
The gentleman told authorities a hotel clerk gave him the artwork after finding it in a vacated room, but he hesitated to travel forward because of the common promotion around the robbery.
After two months of negotiations, the person gave the artwork to the authorities on Friday. Other than minor cosmetic injury to the body, the artwork is undamaged and will be turned over to an insurance firm, according to the office.
Englewood authorities do not believe the man who turned the decoration in was involved in the original theft and he isn’t facing any fees. Researchers are still looking for offenders in the robbery.
