The most accurate depiction of the long-term effects former President Joe Biden’s open border plan will have on the United States was presented by Elon Musk and his DOGE partner Antonio Gracias to a Wisconsin market.
Standing in front of a large table, they showed how the number of SSNs issued to fresh non-citizens spiked in 2024.
There were 964, 000 SSNs issued to fresh non-citizens in 2023, up from 270, 000 in 2021, and 590, 000 in 2022, up from 270, 000 in 2022. However, it more than doubled to over 2 million in 2024. This counts even non-citizens who got their Addresses through the Enumeration Beyond Entry system, a system where the Social Security Administration quickly issues SSNs and tickets to certain international citizens in the U. S., as part of an agreement with U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Gracias outlined the ease with which illegal aliens under Biden became social security card-carrying beneficiaries of America’s generosity. A second method was for aliens to enter the United States and inform Americans that they were concerned for their safety. They are interviewed and given an asylum case.
Or they entered the country and walked up to a border patrol agent to say they wanted to stay. The illegal alien would be arrested for a minor administrative offense, such as a parking ticket, and given a notice to appear before a judge. The average wait to see an immigration judge was six years, Gracias said, because there are only around 700 immigration judges and around 5.5 million people waiting for a hearing.
You can apply for a work document once you’ve been in the country and have obtained asylum through one of these methods. You fill out an I-765, which is the work authorization form. The I-765 asks if you have a SSN, or if you would like to be issued a SSN and a Social Security card. Mail in the , I-765, and you’ll soon receive a 766 card to put in your wallet, also known as a work authorization card.
Your Social Security Number will be automatically sent to you by mail from the Social Security Administration. No interview. No ID, Gracias told the crowd in Wisconsin.
Non-citizens can also obtain a SSN by entering the country legally and applying for a Green Card.
The statistics Musk and Gracias highlighted include Green Card holders too, Art Arthur, the Resident Fellow in Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Federalist.
” That’s perfectly acceptable,” We want people with Green Cards to have Social Security Numbers because they can get Medicare and Social Security, and they must pay taxes, Arthur said, noting that the spike in statistics for 2023 and 2024 was unusual.  ,
” That big bump that you’re seeing there,” you ask? I can’t tell you how many people actually shouldn’t be in the US but who are now eligible for Social Security Numbers because of the way they entered and the way the Biden administration treated them.
Once non-citizens living in the United States have a SSN, the opportunities to commit fraud become clear. Because everyone who doesn’t use legal means to enter the United States has their relationship with it through a phony border crossing, it can’t be ignored.
Here are five ways that the large influx of non-citizens benefit from having a Social Security Number, frequently at the expense of American taxpayers.
Get a High-Paying Job
Non-citizens can find legitimate work with a work authorization card in their wallet. According to Arthur, higher wages are the main draws for people to the United States.  ,
The difference between a worker earning the lowest minimum wage in Central America and the United States is about 10 %. It is roughly eight to one between Mexico and the United States. So, for every one hour that you work in the United States, you make the same amount of money you would work in a full day in Mexico, or a day and two hours in Guatemala”, Arthur said. I’d probably do it if you told me that I could easily and safely enter Saudi Arabia and paint houses for$ 2 million annually, or at least give it a thought.
Collect Social Security Benefits
Let’s say you are an American who started working at 16 and retired at 67. You’ve been making Social Security contributions with every paycheck for 51 years. Non-citizens are eligible for Social Security after working for 40 consecutive years, or for ten.
” Even if you’re here unlawfully, so long as you work for 40 quarters, which is 10 years, you’re eligible for Social Security benefits”, Arthur said.  ,
It means millions of people will receive full benefits without contributing decades of their income to the fund. You don’t have to be a math whiz to know that is not sustainable.
While some claim that Musk is destroying Social Security, Biden’s open border will have a devastating impact on the foundation in the coming years.
However, it has long been known that DOGE-level scrutiny is necessary for Social Security. Mark Hemingway and Ben Weingarten wrote for RealClear Investigations in 2022 that with the swelling numbers of illegal immigrants, “federal authorities have found that well over 1 million are using Social Security numbers belonging to someone else – i. e. stolen or ‘ shared’ with a relative or acquaintance – or numbers that are fabricated”.
Social Security Numbers will always be with you.
Social Security Numbers are valid for a lifetime, and once they expire, a non-citizen can keep them no matter where life takes them.
” You now have a population of a million or more who have valid Social Security Numbers, who will be able to work, albeit illegally, in the United States forever”, Arthur said. They could still work because an employer can’t ask you to look at your employment authorization document, even if Trump removed all of their statuses tomorrow and all of their work authorization. Driver’s licenses and Social Security cards are the two most frequently requested documents by the employer, but they can also request other documents.
A non-citizen who is not supposed to be in the U. S. but has a SSN that was legitimately issued to them can keep working and paying their living expenses, making it harder to identify them as an illegally present alien.
Benefits For Babies
The president wants to end birthrighteous citizenship. Under Biden and for years before his term, babies born on U. S. soil to illegally present parents have been granted citizenship, and the SNAP food benefits, free healthcare, free education, and other free services that go to citizens in need ( and in some cases non-citizens from certain countries and circumstances. )  ,  ,  ,
Non-citizens who have a SSN frequently have families that they can afford to pay well.
When their children are automatically born citizens, it increases the burden on social services and gives non-citizen parents more reasons to stay in the country.
Vote
Only U. S. citizens are allowed to vote in federal elections. However, a Social Security Number opens up the door to fraud. In many states, voters can register via mail by entering either a driver’s license number or their last four digits. A non-citizen could use their SSN to register, then vote absentee. County election officials who compare the SSN to the database of numbers would discover that the number was legitimate even though they had no idea it was a non-citizen.
That SSN is unchangeable even if aliens are re-enter their home countries. Through the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act ( UOCAVA ) Many states allow voters who are out of the country to cast a ballot from anywhere in the world.
The Federalist has written a lot about the Democrats ‘ campaign against making non-citizen voting legal in the United States. Unbelievablely, as Brianna Lyman pointed out, you can vote in a gym without having to have a SSN in California.
In 2020, conservatives were censored for asking questions about non-citizens illegally voting in the U. S. election. Social Security Numbers for non-citizens are a  , clear path for voter fraud that warrants more investigation.  ,  ,
