Top Trump adviser Elon Musk indicated on Saturday that he hopes the United States and Europe reach a “zero tariff situation”, just days after President Donald Trump’s” Liberation Day” announcement slapped 20 % tariffs on the European Union.
Calling into an event held by European Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, Musk addressed the current Trump taxes, saying,” I hope it is agreed that both Europe and the United States should move, essentially, in my view, to a zero price situation, essentially creating a free trade area between Europe and North America”.
” That’s what I hope occurs, and also more freedom of people to move between Europe and North America if they wish, if they wish to work in Europe or wish to work in America, they should be allowed to do so, in my view. But that has certainly been my counsel to the leader”, Musk added.
This is not the first day Musk has commented on the broad mutual taxes implemented earlier this year.
Earlier Saturday, he took a swipe at Trump’s leading industry adviser Peter Navarro, though generally over his degree from Harvard.

” A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a terrible issue, not a good thing”, Musk posted on X in response to a picture of Navarro talking about Trump’s taxes. ” Effects in the ego/brains>, >, 1 problem”.
Musk has lost about$ 31 billion in net worth since Trump announced the tariffs on Wednesday, and recent reporting has indicated he may be leaving the White House in the coming weeks.
