Savannah Craven Antao, a 23-year-old pro-life writer with the lobbying group Live Action, is calling for fairness and worship after she was violently attacked during a city meeting in Harlem. Despite suffering apparent injury and emotional stress, Antao says she is choosing faith and forgiveness in the midst of the abuse.
” I believe that this woman was hurt”, Antao said in an emotional meeting given to media outlet New York Post, following the attack. ” We want fairness, but we also want to beg for this person because she is clearly going through everything a bit deeper. I have no terms”, she added.
The event occurred Thursday while Craven Antao was filming a man-on-the-street discussion section about Planned Parenthood and pregnancy. A verbal change with an unnamed lady turned violent when the speaker launched a series of jabs to Antao’s face.
The girl, who had first expressed curiosity in being interviewed, grew agitated when the matter shifted to contraception options.
Antao was left with a bruised eye, two needles above her head, physical pain, and what she described as a “heavy mental problem”.
” Mentally, I’m kind of struggling”, she was quoted as saying by The Post. ” Every time I open social internet, I see the picture of myself being assaulted. It’s terrifying”, she added.
Video of the fight, which has since gone popular, shows the person reacting violently after a anxious conversation about foster care and pregnancy. When Craven Antao suggested that killing foster children was not reasonable, the girl replied,” Why never”? before the scenario quickly escalated.
The girl punched Antao regularly and walked aside shouting,” Chew my d**k”.
Craven Antao’s father, Henry Antao, who was behind the camera during the meeting, contacted 911 and provided the suspect’s information and pictures.
Antao, who has faced antagonism in the past due to her pro-life position, said this was the most violent affair she has experienced. ” There’s definitely a lot of people that want to beat me, but it takes a lot for you to really assault people for different ideas”, she told The Post.
However, her focus remains on treatment and compassion. ” Bruised, but blessed”, she wrote online shortly after the incident. ” I am Okay! I love you all. Thank you for the support”.
