A 49-year-old man was shot by officers on Sunday night after he reportedly went on a violent spree with a meat cleaver in a Brooklyn house, slashing and stabbing four young women before being confronted by officers.
According to New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the survivors — aged 16, 13, 11, and 8 — sustained major injuries but are expected to survive. As per news agency AP, the attack was reported around 10: 15 am ( local time ) when the 11-year-old girl, wounded and terrified, locked herself in a room and called 911, saying her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings.
The 911 operator used place tracking to identify the target on 84th Street in Bensonhurst. When soldiers arrived, an undamaged son led them in. ” At that point, the soldiers heard cries coming from behind the doorway to their kept and soon began forcing their way into the room”, Tisch said at a media briefing, reported CBS News.
Outside, police encountered the suspect, identified as Long Qian Chen, holding a big bloodied meat cleaver. State Assemblyman Lester Chang told investigators that one of the patients may have been a parent. The investigation is ongoing.
