Greeks is my favorite publication of the Bible. I love its rich religion and the way the Apostle Paul tackles but some serious issues with such beauty. The past five pages contain some more practical suggestions to the Roman temple.

In Romans 12, Paul throws out a bunch of what I call “quick visits”. They’re super-fast, terse instructions on how we should connect with others:
Allow love be true. Abhor what is bad, hold quickly to what is good. Like one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing respect. Do not be slothful in devotion, been sincere in nature, serve the Lord. Revel in hope, be calm in tribulation, remain constant in prayer. Contribute to the requirements of the souls and get to exhibit kindness.  ,
Romans 12: 9-13 ( ESV )
On the surface, these orders seem scattershot, almost like the lines in Proverbs that hop from one subject to the next. But they’re related in the sense that they’re sensible advice for daily living. John Piper said on a new season of the” Question Pastor John” radio that these orders all show us how to start off all our relationships with passion:
Rome 12: 8, the poetry just before this phrase, says that for generous services, all these seven ways of caring, are to be done with joy. ” ]Let ] the one who does acts of mercy]do them ] with cheerfulness”, which is an affection and emotion. In consequence, all these instructions, every one of them, include the soul, the affections, the desires. Paul is no dominant outward behavior that comes from a bad type of heart. He’s never interested in that. That’s why that first word is,” Let love be genuine” ( Romans 12: 9 ) ]emphasis in the original]. And truly, the term is anypokritos. You can even see it in English: an-hypokritos — never dishonest. Let love never become dishonest.
I hate sham like. In other words, I don’t like outer habits that looks Christian but isn’t coming from a new soul. He always says only,” Serve”, but” Revel to serve”. He doesn’t claim only,” Avoid evil”, he says,” Abhor evil”. He doesn’t claim only,” Know about cheerful guarantees”, he says,” Cheer in hope”. He doesn’t really state to Christians that they should love another, he says,” Love with brotherly love”. These are just beautiful commands, directly to our feelings, our affections, our heart.

Piper likewise traces this conversation back to the beginning of the book:
I appeal to you so, sons, by the blessings of God, to provide your body as a living sacrifice, divine and acceptable to God, which is your religious worship. Do not be conformed to this globe, but be transformed by the registration of your head, that by testing you may identify what is the will of God, what is good and appropriate and perfect.
Romans 12: 1-2 ( ESV )
Paul has spent 11 sections digging into profound philosophical principles before turning to the useful. ( Of course, we know that those chapter and verse divisions weren’t in the scriptures as originally written but added later. ) He kicks off the sensible part of the notice with the proclamation to allow God change our minds.
” Don’t be conformed to the world. Get transformed”, Piper added. ” That is, become amazed and humbled and glad and empowered by the terrible blessings of God toward you in your inadequacy. Get so amazed, but humiliated, so glad, so empowered that you are transformed with a mind and heart that have new emotions, new wishes, new choices, new approvings and disapprovings”.
Why is the change and renewing of our brains so important? Piper answered,” Because the way we are transformed is by seeing the glory of the brilliance of the blessings of God toward us in our forlorn wicked state”.

There are wonderful items that accompany this change, and Piper mentioned them. Rome 6: 6 tells us that “our old soul was crucified with him in order that the body of sin may be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin”. Rome 6: 14 encourages us that” crime will have no jurisdiction over you, since you are not under laws but under elegance”.
And then there’s the complexity of Romans 8:
There is so then no criticism for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the laws of the Spirit of living has set you free in Christ Jesus from the laws of sin and death. For God has done what the laws, weakened by the body, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful body and for evil, he condemned crime in the body, in order that the righteous necessity of the rules may be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the body but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8: 1-4 ( ESV )
Piper concluded that” the crucial to obeying these instructions in Rome 12 is to arrive at them directly through the doorway of Rome 12: 1–2, and through all the beautiful blessings of God in pages 1–11. Immerse yourself in these. Letting these be your wealth. God may transform you into the kind of people that you cheerfully accept these lines in chapter 12 from your brain”.
