President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday evening that the United States was “pretty nearby” to a withdrawal agreement with TikTok prior to China’s decision to sell the system due to tariffs Trump imposed on the nation during his” Liberation Day” implementation.

Following the White House’s 34 % tax on China, the country flipped its mind and ByteDance said it was unable to consent to a sales. A deal was reached between American traders and TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, that would enable the social media platform to continue operating in the United States.

Trump confirmed that in remarks to the internet on Air Force One.

We had a really good deal for TikTok, which was not a good deal, but it was close, and then China changed it due to tariffs, the senator said.

He also praised the impact of taxes, claiming that the TikTok deal would have been approved in” 15 days” if China had received a “little reduce” in the taxes.

They would review that bargain in 15 minutes, which demonstrates the power of tariffs, right? Trump stated.

Trump announced that TikTok’s search date for a U.S. buyer may be extended by 75 days after the offer failed to be completed. Vice President JD Vance was hired to lead the government’s efforts to find a U.S. client for the company at the earlier date, which was April 5.
