A recent study from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI ) found a link between foreign terrorist organizations and American curriculum for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
The California-based Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance ( MECA ), which creates curriculum materials for K-12 schools, has personal and financial ties to a number of foreign terrorist organizations, according to NCRI.
The nonprofit organization specifically has “injected more than$ 30 million in aid to projects in Lebanon, Gaza, and the WB since 1988” under the ostensible banner of “protecting the health, lives, and rights of children in the Middle East,” according to the report.
According to the report,” Our investigation of MECA has resulted in evidence that suggests financial and personnel ties to organizations associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( PFLP), which was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO ) by the US government in 1997.”
According to the report,” MEC A has recently begun facilitating fundraising for a network of extremist anti-government actors based in the United States, in addition to its ties to PFLP fronts based in the Gaza Strip.”
Among the founding officials of MECA are characters like Maya Angelou, Maxine Waters, Noam Chomsky, and the first Arab-American legislator, Democrat James Abourezk.
Regarding personal relationships, the report states that” the veteran director of its Gaza programming is associated with a PFLP-linked entity” and that Leila Khaled, MECA’s founder, facilitated a meeting. The director, Dr. Mona Al-Farra, previously served as the Union of Healthcare Worker Committees ( UHWC), which USAID “recognized as a PFLP front organization as early as 1993 ).
MECA “penetrated the US public education system through its enhancement of dramatic education materials through the Teach Palestine task that are being taught in K-12 classrooms nationwide,” according to a report released in 2024 from the NCRI.
