President Donald Trump refused to introduce California’s two Democratic senators during the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers‘ visit to the White House.
“We have a couple of senators here. I just don’t particularly like them, so I won’t introduce them,” Trump said to laughter at the ceremony. As the crowd reacted to the remark, he smirked and added, “I didn’t think it was that big a deal, actually. It’s Washington.”

Trump has continually feuded with Democrats, but in particular, with Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who led the charge for the opposition during his first impeachment. However, a representative from Schiff’s office said the senator was not present in the room.
The Washington Examiner has contacted the office of Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) seeking comment.
During the event, Trump predicted this won’t be the only time he welcomes the Dodgers to the White House.
“After seeing how successful you’ve begun this season, I can tell you that you can plan on being back here,” Trump said during his remarks in front of the team. “I hope you’re going to be back here next year.”
The Dodgers easily bested Trump’s hometown, the New York Yankees, in the 2024 World Series and are off to a 9-2 start in 2025. Welcoming the team to the executive mansion, Trump said he hopes there will be “a little suspense” in Major League Baseball before the Dodgers repeat a World Series win at the end of this year.
He promised to give the team an Oval Office tour following the ceremony.
Trump was very complimentary of the Dodgers even while admitting he loves the Yankees. He said designated hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani “looks like a movie star” and that infielder Max Muncy had arms like steel in comparison to the typical politician who has “jello” arms.
Trump even took a rare shot at himself, saying he played baseball himself but was “sort of slow,” another remark that drew laughter from the crowd.

Before receiving his customized Dodgers jersey, Trump said he likes watching the star-studded team play and may do so even more in the future.
“You see a spirit on the Dodgers that you don’t see with a lot of teams,” Trump said. “A lot of teams I turn on and say, ‘Oh, let’s forget it.’ When I turn on the Dodgers, I like to watch the team. And now that I’ve gotten to meet these guys personally, I’ll like it even more.”
