US officials confirmed on Monday that Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield has been fired by the Trump presidency. Despite not providing a distinct justification, Associated Press resources reported that her expulsion may have been in part due to her public support for diversity in the military ranks.
According to officials, Chatfield was contacted by general Christopher Grady, the joint chiefs of staff’s acting president. According to her, the presidency wished to “take the place in a different way.” Although it is unknown whether President Trump was directly involved, defense secretary Pete Hegseth is alleged to have made the decision next month. Due to the nature of the situation, the officers spoke in an anonymous manner.
This is Trump’s next attempt to remove a powerful feminine officer. Hegseth fired then-chief of marine activities, general Lisa Franchetti, in February. A moment after Trump took office, the seacoast watch commander, Admiral Linda Fagan, was fired.
