The agent who worked as a shift supervisor for the Diplomatic Security Service ( DSS) was detained on March 31 after “behaving erratically” at the Hotel Amigo, according to the New York Post.
The incident took place when the former agent, who was on Rubio’s advance team for his trip to Nato, reportedly became angry after the hotel staff turned down his request to resume the bar after business hours.
The agent became actually extreme as a result of staff attempts to calm the agent down and direct him back to his room, according to The Brussels Times.
The representative reportedly resisted being called by the police, which allegedly caused an officer-to-be-called physical altercation before being taken into custody. He was eventually freed the following day, according to The Hill, following an intervention by the US Embassy in Belgium.
Rubio was no staying at the hotel at the time of the incident, but he did while attending a meeting of the Nato foreign ministers later that year. The state agency’s security agency, which is tasked with defending US officials and looking into international acts, confirmed it is aware of the incident.
According to a statement from the state department,” the claims are being examined,” but we don’t discuss distinct personnel matters.
Sources quoted by the Washington Examiner suggested that extraordinary task forces may possess contributed to the owner’s behavior. According to one cause,” Revolution directors on Rubio’s depth have an inexplicable workload… They work six to seven days a week,” adding that DSS leadership owed the agent a good examination given the pressure.
