Thus, the Legislature intends to end all programs and initiatives based on the principles of important theory, or more generally known as “diversity, equity, and inclusion” in all public institutions of higher education.
The measure forbids required diversity trainings and discrimination reporting systems, as well as forbids DEI workplaces and programs.
With minimal exceptions for programs that are exclusively focused on racial, tribal, or sex studies,” the legislation may avoid colleges from setting curricula that require students to take DEI-related courses to finish degree programs,” according to KTVB.
The Idaho State Board of Education approved radical new policies that ban” DE I ideology” in higher education, require institutional neutrality, and state that” no employee or student is required to declare gender identity or preferred pronouns” just five months later.
The Idaho State Board of Education also outlawed institutions from requiring or requesting variety comments from job candidates in 2023. Boise State University had a Della division at the time, and the University of Idaho had an Office of Equity and Diversity.
Traditional organizations praised the new rules, which is scheduled to take effect on July 1.
