Following his appointment as FBI director alongside his duties as FBI director, Indian-origin director Kash Patel was removed from his position as acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Exploits ( ATF). Daniel Driscoll, the White House’s military secretary, was chosen as his successor.
Although the Justice Department confirmed his treatment, it was not officially announced. Patel was ousted in late February, just weeks after taking the oath of office, according to options cited by the Associated Press.
Patel was actually also listed as the ATF’s acting producer on the company’s website as soon as April and featured in press releases. Top ATF officials weren’t informed of the administration change until this week, raising questions about how opaquely handled the situation was.
Army director Daniel Driscoll has taken over as the ATF’s speaking head, while maintaining his previous position of blurring the line between domestic law enforcement and defense.
The ATF is responsible for pursuing serious crimes, including involving gun trafficking, arson, bombings, and violent crimes, and plays a professional role in tracing weapons used in crimes.
Kash Patel was fired, but why?
- A justice ministry official claimed that Patel’s removal was not due to poor achievement and that it was a regular interval arrangement until senate-confirmed appointments are made, but it was not immediately clear why. Patel’s day at the ATF was momentary, according to spy Harrison Fields, and he is now “excelling” at the FBI.
- Patel was in charge of both the ATF and the FBI, both large and complex organizations. Reports suggest that the dual role may not have been manageable.
- According to them, Patel just went to the ATF offices once and was primarily excluded from agency matters during his brief tenure.
- His unexpected session in February apparently irked ATF’s career staff. Although he encouraged the organization to concentrate on aggressive crew crimes, insiders told Reuters that his relationship with the organization ceased there.
