
On Thursday at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., an aircraft clipped another stable aircraft’s arms. No injuries were reported from the incident, but several members of Congress were present at the time of the event.
Both of the jets involved in the incident on Thursday were American Airlines, according to NBC News. American Airlines stated in a statement obtained by the channel that” American Eagle trip 5490, operated by PSA Airlines, made contact with National Eagle trip 4522, operated by Republic Airways, on a DCA tarmac.”
According to NBC News, American Eagle Flight 4522 was an Embraer E175 and had 67 people and four staff members, while British Eagle Flight 5490 was a Bombardier CRJ 900. The tragedy at Reagan National Airport occurred on Thursday at about 12:45 p.m., according to NBC News.
Following Thursday’s event, Rep. Nick LaLota (R-N. Y ) shared a photo of the two jets. The senator wrote,” Serving in Congress has come with some once in a lifetime experience… like this just now while fixed on the tarmac at DCA, another helicopter just bumped into our aircraft.” Heading back to the gate, but fortunately, all is fine.
