A Yonkers woman, 28, has filed a federal complaint against DNA Diagnostics Center and Winn Health Labs, alleging that a flawed paternity test caused her to kill her conception and unintentionally stop her wedding, only to discover months later that the test results were inaccurate.
The person, who requested anonymity, was quoted by The New York Post as saying,” My girl would have been born on April 17… These results were the reason why I made the decision to do what I did,” with tears in her eyes.
When the woman and her fiance recently broke up next summer due to the strain of fertility problems, the couple had been trying to conceive for some time. She claims that shelter was used during one experience with another man while she was there at the time. When she afterwards learned that she was female, she knew her fiance was the father.
But she secretly conducted a paternity check with her ex-partner to prevent potential doubts.
The lady turned to DNA Diagnostics Center, a company that claims to be a world leader in DNA tests after spending more than$ 1, 000 on two conclusive tests. She raised questions about competence and privacy at Winn Health Labs in the Bronx, a location that also serves as a beauty shop.
According to NBC News, her attorney Craig Phemister said,” You don’t want to request for a paternity test in front of people getting their hair done.
The results were returned on Halloween 2024, indicating a 99.99 % chance that the other man had been the father. She made the decision to end her pregnancy as the 24-week pregnancy cap in New York grew closer. She reportedly told NBC,” I decided to keep my marriage.” She continued,” I thought this was completely true.”
