A disturbing discovery about one of the Washington Post’s Pulitzer Prize-winning articles on Russian cooperation has just been revealed in newly declassified FBI records. A part of Mueller’s staff and past NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers informed FBI agents in June 2017 that a Washington Post article from May 2017 that Trump had asked knowledge officials to “push up” on the FBI’s Russia investigation was untrue. Although it’s unclear whether the Post knew Rogers had previously refuted their statement, Rogers later made it clear to researchers that the story was false.
The Post tale would go on to be one of the Russiagate stories that the outlet published in 2018 and be awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2018. It is now known that one of its principal subjects instantly refuted the story the month after it was published. Trump is suing the Pulitzer Board for libel because he continues to support the accolades it gave to this collusion-related history and a number of people. On the grounds of national resistance, a Florida circuit court judge denied the Pulitzer Board’s request to postpone President Donald Trump’s defamation complaint against them.
According to the newly released Rogers interview with the Mueller team, the then-NSA director was quoted in a quote from a 2016 Washington Post article where the FBI notes that” Rogers responded that the President had asked about the existence of SIGINT [signals intelligence ] evidence only and that” President Trump urged]Rogers ] to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion.”
