Bangladesh has reintroduced the phrase “except Israel” on passports after nearly four years, preventing people from visiting the Hebrew state as the Gaza Strip’s people outcries.
The department’s director standard for immigration and documents has been given the task of implementing the change. The home department received a notification earlier this month about the change.
On Bangladeshi documents, the phrase” this card is appropriate for all countries of the world except Israel” used to appear. The expression was eliminated in 2021. Although Bangladesh’s place regarding Israel remained unchanged, the next Awami League government had stated that it would continue to adhere to international norms of the document.
The publication followed a day of protests involving thousands of demonstrators in the capital Dhaka, carrying hundreds of Arab flags and chanting” Free, Free Palestine” to protest Jewish actions in the Gaza Strip.
