On Sunday morning, a powerful blast severed a two-story house and shook nearby neighbourhoods for miles, causing extensive damage to a private area in Northwest Austin. Around 11:25 am ( local time ) at 10407 Double Spur Loop, close to Spicewood Springs Road and US 183, emergency personnel arrived.
The house collapsed following an “unknown event,” according to the Austin Fire Department ( AFD), and one person who was trapped inside the rubble was pulled out by firefighters and taken to Austin-Travis County EMS for treatment.
According to CBS Austin, ATCEMS confirmed that “multiple sufferers” were injured, though neither the actual amount nor the degree of the injuries were identified.
Citizens were seen walking through the debris and keeping huge sections of the neighborhood cordoned off, according to images and images shared digitally.
The explosion” shook structures for miles” and left “massive flash damage” to local homes, according to The Express, with burned shielding scattered across the street and residents who described how it” shook buildings for miles”
” Immediately, everyone shook as I was inside my home. I believed everything had struck the building,” a native wrote online. Anyone else hearing or feeling a massive blast right now in Northwest Austin, according to another writer?
As a safety precaution, neighbors ‘ homes, some of which sustained significant structural damage, have been evacuated. Crisis companies have sealed off a large area around the fell home.
Residents of the area reported hearing a loud noise and seeing smoke billow from the site immediately after the explosion, according to KVUE.
The explosion’s source is still being investigated.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the personality or the patient’s condition of the person rescued from the dust, nor have they provided a date for when people may return to their homes, according to Fox 7 Austin.
Officials from nearby states, including the Leander and Cedar Park Police Departments, made it clear that the incident actually took place in Austin, not just in their places. On social media, Cedar Park Police stated,” We are aware of the quiet “boom” that was felt throughout the city, while reiterating that it did not occur within their jurisdiction.
The AFD and various local authorities are currently looking into the cause of the explosion.
