Donald Trump, US President, doubled down on his conservative trade stance on Sunday, declaring that no nation, particularly China, would be spared from his expansive tariff agenda.
Trump refuted claims that his administration had granted tariff exemptions to some tech products in a post on social media, saying that” NOBOD Y is getting’off the hook’ for the unfair Trade Balances… especially not China, which by far treats us the worst”!
There was no “exception” to the tax that was made public on Friday. These items are moving to a different” category” of tariffs, and they are already subject to the current 20 % of Fentanyl. Trump cited media reports suggesting deductions for devices like phones and semiconductors, noting that the Fake News is aware of this but refuses to review it.
The post was made in the midst of market turbulence and criticism from the administration’s new shifts in trade. Trump stated that as part of future national security tariff investigations, the US may look into semiconductors and” the Total ELECTRONICS SUPPLY CHAIN.” He reaffirmed that” We will not be held hostage by various countries, particularly hostile buying countries like China.”
Trump’s comments come after a turbulent week that saw the White House appear to be lighten some tax opportunities, rattling markets, and top officials making a full-fledged defense. White House aides and Cabinet users fanned out across major broadcast networks on Sunday in an effort to project quiet and consistency in scheme, despite Trump’s communications suggesting otherwise.
Trump argued that what some might have thought were exclusions were merely reclassifications. ” Those nights are over”! he said, referring to generations of alleged business abuse by China. He vowed that more jobs, job growth, and local manufacturing growth may result from the” Golden Age of America.”
Our nation will get bigger, better, and stronger than it was before, Trump wrote. ” We may, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”
While Trump’s team past week defended a move to a 10 % universal tax on most goods and a steep 145 % tax on Chinese goods, their Sunday looks aimed to reassure voters and firms despite the impact of rising prices and short-term uncertainty.
