Bruno Retailleau, the interior minister of France, is scheduled to meet with his Moroccan equivalent Abdelouafi Laftit on Monday to discuss safety assistance.
According to the European interior ministry, deals will mainly concentrate on migration cooperation, the fight against organized crime, and drug smuggling.
Since France recognized Moroccan independence over the disputed territory of Northern Sahara in the summer of 2024, ending several times of stress, especially over migration, relations between Paris and Rabat have drastically improved.
In contrast, Algeria’s ties to France have rapidly deteriorated since the proceed, with Algiers supporting the Polisario separatists.
On Monday, the French foreign minister said its former town had asked 12 European leaders to leave in 48 days, which added to the tensions between Paris and Algiers.
According to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, the statement was connected to three Algerian immigrants ‘ arrests in France.
” I am asking Algerian government to stop these expulsion steps,” Barrot said, adding that if the government continues to decide to send back our authorities, we will have no choice but to respond right away.
