Nick Katt, a character actor who appeared in the Fox collection” Boston Public” and Richard Linklater’s independent classic” Dazed and Confused,” has passed away. He was 54.
His attorney John Sloss confirmed Katt’s dying on Saturday. Death’s reason was never revealed.
Katt, who was born on May 11, 1970, in South Dakota, began his acting career by appearing in television shows like” Quincy, M. E.,”” Father Murphy,”” Fantasy Island,” and” CHiPs.”
As an adult, Katt gained a reputation for taking on responsibilities that necessitated him to perform unsavory characters. Director Steven Soderbergh described Katt’s function as “dangerously out of control” but meticulously prepared for his achievements in a 2002 meeting with The Times.
In the 1993 coming-of-age slacker funny about kids in Austin, Texas, celebrating the final day of high school in 1976, Katt made a big name for himself by playing drunk Clint Bruno in” Dazed and Confused.” The movie aided in the advancement of Parker Posey, Ben Affleck, and Matthew McConaughey’s profession.
For Katz, it produced solid work, including playing the Connection villain Billy Ray Cobb in” A Time to Kill,” playing a ruthless broker in” Boiler Room,” playing a ruthless hunter in Soderbergh’s” The Limey,” and playing Adolf Hitler in the author’s 2002 picture” Full Frontal.” He also appeared in” The Dark Knight” and” Batman & Robin.”
Katt continued to work on television, earning his biggest prime-time position with David E. Kelly’s episode” Boston Public,” which was set in an industrial high school. For the first three months, Katt played instructor Harry Senate. His most recent operating work is in the position in the 2018 Hulu production of” Casual.”
Katt expressed indifference about pursuing success in Hollywood in a 2002 discussion with The Times.
He said,” Sometimes I think I may have a lot more energy than I do now, if I did more sit-ups and went to the tanning hairdresser.” You ultimately follow your gut’s advice.
