As part of the upcoming wave of “wasteful spending” identified by the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ), Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Thursday that the Pentagon is cutting$ 5.1 billion in Department of Defense contracts.
Hegseth had signed a memorandum  on Thursday that the Department of Defense had announced would be the “termination” of$ 5.1 billion in “wasteful Defense Department deals.”
Hegseth stated in an a  video message on Thursday that that’s with a” B”:$ 5.1 billion in DOD arrangements for ancillary services like consulting and another nonessential service.
Hegseth explained that Accenture, Booz Allen, Deloitte, and other private companies have previously received$ 1.8 billion in consulting contracts from the Defense Health Agency. Additionally, the costs include a$ 1.4 billion deal for business operation consulting from the U.S. Navy and a$ 500 million contract for sky information technology services from a software reseller.
Instead of paying$ 500 per hour as a business process consultant, Hegseth said,” We need this money to be used to provide our warfighters and their families with better health care.” That is a bit of consulting, according to      .

Hegseth stated in the digital information that the Pentagon would terminate a$ 500 million contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for “IT help desk solutions that are totally duplicative service” provided by the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Additionally, Hegseth claimed that the Department of Defense had discovered 11 more diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ) contracts, including those related to the Pentagon’s COVID-19 response, climate change initiatives, and “nonessential activities.”

Hegseth continued,” Today’s cuts bring our running total to nearly$ 6 billion in wasteful spending over the first six weeks of the DOD-DOGE effort here at the Defense Department,” further explaining that later in the video.
