After Harvard rejects US demands, Trump adds new threat

Donald Trump issues new threat after Harvard University defies US govt demands: All you need to know
Harvard defies Trump and is facing a$ 2.3 billion funding freeze.

Trump, the president of the US, threatened to revoke Harvard University’s tax-exempt reputation, bringing an even more serious conflict between the White House and the world’s oldest and wealthiest institution.
Following Harvard’s rejection of a list of policy shifts demanded by the Trump administration, including changes to hiring, admittance, and education, the decision was made.
Only a moment before, the presidency frozen more than$ 2 billion in school funding. Trump was upset over the media’s policy of Harvard’s defiance, according to a person with knowledge of the president’s ideas, and he made the decision to launch the pressure campaign, according to NYT.
Trump responded to the tweet,” Perhaps Harvard may reduce its Tax Exempt Status and become Taxed as a Democratic Entity if it keeps pushing political, philosophical, and criminal inspired/supporting” Sickness.” … acting in the PUBLIC INTEREST is completely dependent on your tax exemption reputation!
Under fire for having tax-exempt standing
Trump has personally indicated he’s committed to taking on Harvard, despite White House leaders ‘ assertion that the IRS will consider separately on tax-exempt things. Losing its volunteer position could eventually cost the college billions of dollars.
Previous Treasury Secretary and current leader Lawrence Summers remarked with force that “dictatorship is the product of careful harassment of your social adversaries through the tax system.”

Harvard” Sets Example” by defying Trump and accepting the$ 2.3 billion funding freeze | Big Fight Explained

    IRS guidelines and constitutional fact
The leader is unable to order IRS studies straight under federal law. Experts question the extent of any significant danger to Harvard’s position, despite the agency’s decline to comment.
The problem is that you’re causing people to spend a lot of time and money responding and defending their actions, according to former IRS commissioner John Koskinen, who said,” The chances of the IRS revoke the 501( c ) ( 3 ) status of a major university are almost nonexistent.”
The sheer thought of going to court could be a daunting load, he observed.
Despite Harvard’s success, there are billions in interest.
Although the Trump tax law for massive college endowments was already imposed in the 2017 tax bill, Harvard’s wider tax-exempt status makes it less susceptible to significant tax obligations and attracts sizable donations.
Harvard’s$ 50 billion investment is bolstered by tax-deductible products, frequently from rich contributors like John Paulson and Ken Griffin.
Summers warned that if Harvard’s duty standing were removed, “it would destroy advancement in medical and scientific research, option for the next generation of Americans, and significant magnet for the United States in the world,” despite their probabilities.
    Antisemitism allegations and political context
Trump administration officials have accused top colleges of fostering hatred and preventing free speech. Why are American taxpayers paying for a university with billions of dollars now, asked Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary? And we shouldn’t, by any means, be funding a position with such egregious hatred.
Harvard stays true to its word
Harvard resisted responding to leadership demands for plan changes and regular progress reports last week with the financing freeze. Alan Garber, president of the university, stated in a speech:
No government should be able to control what secret universities can tell, whom they can say and get, and what fields of study and inquiry they can pursue, regardless of which party is in power.
About$ 9 billion of federal funding is provided to Harvard, with the majority going to affiliated hospitals and the rest going to research in areas like cancer, space exploration, and Alzheimer’s.
While the institution is financially secure, different institutions have chosen to adhere to Trump’s demands. Columbia University apparently settled with the administration after facing similar force.
