Since Donald Trump’s return to office, legacy media have been quick to elevate the voices of disgruntled executive employees unhappy with the president’s efforts to deliver on the agenda the American people voted for in the 2024 election. So, it comes as no surprise that these same leftist acolytes are rushing to downplay a military officer undermining the White House’s foreign policy priorities.
The situation came to light last week when the left-wing Military.com reported on a March 31 email sent by Space Force Col. Susan Meyers to personnel stationed at Pituffik Space Base in Greenland. The communique was issued days after Vice President J.D. Vance visited the installation as part of the Trump administration’s bid to acquire the Danish-controlled territory for security-related reasons.
“Our message to Denmark is very simple,” Vance said during his trip to the base. “You have not done a good job by the people of Greenland. You have underinvested in the people of Greenland, and you have underinvested in the security of this incredible, beautiful landmass.”
Apparently viewing it as her duty to spearhead U.S. foreign policy toward Greenland, Meyers went out of her way to effectively undermine the White House’s messaging on the subject. In her email to base personnel, the Space Force colonel said she “spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you.”
“I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base,” Meyers wrote. “I commit that, for as long as I am lucky enough to lead this base, all of our flags will fly proudly — together.”
The email’s contents were confirmed by the Space Force, according to Military.com.
Less than 24 hours after news of the email became public, the Space Force announced Meyers was “removed from command” for “loss of confidence in her ability to lead.” Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell issued a follow-up statement to the announcement and the Military.com story on X, saying, “Actions to undermine the chain of command or to subvert President Trump’s agenda will not be tolerated at the Department of Defense.”
Seemingly having no issue with a military officer subverting the foreign policy messaging of the White House, legacy media have swooped in to minimize the severity of Meyers’ actions by running deceptively worded headlines obscuring the colonel’s actions.
The left-wing Associated Press, for instance, ran an article with the headline, “Head of US Space Force base in Greenland is fired after Vance visit,” which fails to inform readers of why Meyers was removed from command. The piece’s opening paragraph isn’t much better, with author Tara Copp characterizing Meyers’ conduct as simply “breaking with” the White House’s messaging.
But the AP is hardly the only outlet playing these kinds of word games. Left-wing publications such as The Guardian, Reuters, Business Insider, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and CBS News all ran headlines that declined to mention the reason for Meyers’ dismissal.
“U.S. Military Removes Commander of Greenland Base After Vance Visit,” the Times’ headline reads. The Post ran a nearly identical article title, which reads, “U.S. military removes commander of Greenland base after JD Vance visit.”
This seemingly coordinated effort to squash Meyers’ insurgent behavior isn’t the least bit shocking.
Much like their giddiness over Democrat-appointed lower court judges sabotaging Trump with overreaching injunctions, so-called “journalists” are more than happy to cheer and massage the efforts of resentful government officials working to undercut the duly elected president, and by default, the will of the American people.
