The recently released research records have revealed details about Gene Hackman‘s last days and his wife Betsy Arakawa, a seasoned actor. Authorities made public emails, phone logs, and online searches that showed Arakawa was concerned about having flu-like symptoms before she passed away from disease.
Arakawa, 65, passed away from hantavirus respiratory syndrome, a rare disease that rodents can propagate through. Gene Hackman, 95, passed away a week later from a brain condition brought on by Alzheimer’s. Maintenance employees discovered their partly mummified bodies in their Santa Fe residence on February 26 after receiving an alert from the police.
Arakawa had been searching online for information on Covid-19, drowsiness, and flu-like symptoms between 8 and 12 February, according to the recently released report. She claimed in an internet to her massage therapist that Hackman had displayed symptoms of illness but had tested negative for Covid-19. She claimed to be cancelling an interview “out of an abundance of precaution.”
Arakawa attempted to contact a waiter health service on February 12 in the morning, according to phone records. Additionally, investigators reviewed messages and incoming calling to the child’s phone and reviewed security footage from local stores.
A thorough research of the home was revealed on police bodycam images, which was redacted to defend the couple’s dignity. One of the woman’s dogs was discovered dead next to Arakawa’s body, while another was found near after being dehydrated and starving. A second puppy was saved.
Rodent faeces were discovered in buildings but not inside the house. The documents were made public following a judge order despite the child’s efforts to remain secret.
