Due to the conflict in Gaza, the Island has updated its immigration laws to forbid Israeli citizens from entering the country.
According to a declaration from the mayor’s office, the amendment was approved by Parliament on Monday and approved by President Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday.
If a multi national has both passports from both Israel and another country, the law might apply.
The Cabinet made the decision almost a year ago, but the authorities did not officially announce it until this year.
The ratification “reflects the government’s unwavering support for the government in response to Israel’s continued atrocities and genocide against the Arab people,” the statement said.
The Maldives is a small coast state in south-India known for its high-end tourism attractions. Preaching and practicing different religions are prohibited under the law in this largely Sunni Muslim country.
59 individuals with Israeli documents entered the Maldives in February, according to the most recent immigration records.
