After more than a year in prison, Russian President Vladimir Putin met a Russian-Israeli gentleman who had been freed by the Arab militant group Hamas and made the promise to completely different victims.
The head of the Kremlin thanked Hamas for the man’s release, claiming that this was the result of Russian-Palestinian cooperation. Late on Wednesday, Putin addressed Alexander Trufanov, 29, saying,” Thank God, you are alive and well and you are around.” Trufanov claimed he spent 498 time in a prison.
In February, Trufanov was made public, and Israel has given him the title Sasha Trupanov. In the first peace of the war, his spouse, his grandmother, and his mother Yelena were also taken and released, but Vitali Trupanov, his father, passed away in the attack on October 7th.
In the late 1990s, the Trupanov community immigrated from Russia to Israel. In Hebrew and Russian, the mother’s last name is spelled Trufanov, which is different. Trufanov referred to another victims as “brothers” when he asked Putin to help secure the release of them while they were still imprisoned.
When they are there, it seems as though half of my brain is still in Gaza, according to me. Trufanov stated in the televised conference that it will be very difficult for me to go back to my daily life while they are there. Mr. Putin, I actually ask you to carry on what you did before ( with other prisoners ) so that they can also get free and content like I am now.
Putin retorted,” We will definitely get working on this.” Trufanov claimed that the president’s release was” the result of steady, multi-year relations with the Israeli people.”
” I think it’s necessary to express my gratitude to the management and the social wing of Hamas for responding to our request, carrying out this activity, a charitable work, and releasing you,” Putin said. On February 15, a Russian assistant foreign minister pleaded with Hamas to preserve “promises” in order to free him, and Trufanov was freed on that day.
Maxim Herkin, a 35-year-old Russian-Israeli resident who was kidnapped at a song event, has also been requested by Russia. Herkin was depicted as dead in a movie that Hamas released in April.
