Elon Musk‘s SpaceX is reportedly the forerunner to win a $10 billion contract to build Donald Trump’s Golden Dome — inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome, Reuters claimed. Elon Musk, however, refuted the claim and said SpaceX has not tried to bid for any contract in this regard. “Our strong preference would be to stay focused on taking humanity to Mars.”
” I hope that other companies ( not SpaceX ) can do this,” Musk wrote,” But if the President asks us to help in this regard, we will do so.”
However, the Reuters document did not make the claim that SpaceX was a leader in its field. According to the report, SpaceX and two other businesses with close ties to Trump, including defence company Anduril, in which tycoon Peter Thiel is a crucial trader, and Palatir, which Theil co-founded, formed a partnership for the bid.
According to the Reuters report, SpaceX members held discussions with the Pentagon, outlining the firm’s ideas. The gathering, which does not have a proper title, proposes that as the first stage of the process, it may start as many as 1, 000 satellites into orbit the earth to watch for missile challenges. That alone would require design and preliminary engineering costs up to$ 10 billion, according to Reuters.
What is the Golden Dome of Trump?
The idea behind Golden Dome is similar to Israel’s Iron Dome, which will act as a weapon shield from a variety of weapon threats, including nuclear, fast, and advanced sail missiles. Trump cited a missile strike as” the most severe threat facing the United States” in his professional attempt on January 27.
However, some solutions told Reuters that Golden Dome is still in its early stages and that choosing who did make it too is unknown.
According to the Reuters report, the three businesses SpaceX, Anduril, and Palantir met with senior officials from the Trump presidency and the Pentagon to discuss their plan to build and establish 400 to 1000 satellites that circle the globe in order to feel missiles and track their movements. Three of the sources claimed that a separate ships of 200 strike satellites equipped with missiles or lasers had finally deflect army weapons. According to the report, the SpaceX team is not anticipated to become involved in the weaponization of satellites, citing sources.
